The Personal Licence allows you to sell or supply alcohol within a licensed premise.

How long does the Personal Licence last?

The licence usually lasts for up to 10 years unless revoked. If you already have a personal licence, you are free to move to another licensed premises without applying for a new one.

How much does a Personal Licence Cost?

The application fee for a personal alcohol licence is £37.00
Part of the process of obtaining a personal licence will include back-ground checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service. You will also need to obtain a Personal Licence Qualification, which is quite straight forward.

What does the standard DBS checks show?

The Standard checks show details of spent and unspent conviction any, caution or reprimands and any final warnings. Enhanced DBS checks show the same but also include any additional information held by local police considered relevant to the role in question.

Is the Personal Licence Qualification hard to pass?

No. The course is usually run over a day period. It costs around £100 depending on the service provider. You will need to answer 40 multiple choice questions. You need to get 28 out of 40 to pass.

Premises Licence

Your premises will need this in order to certify that the establishment can legally sell alcohol together with any associated activities including entertainment.

How long does the Premises Licence last?

Once your premises is licensed, it will last until it is revoked or returned so long as the annual fee is paid to the local Licensing Authority.

How much does the Premises Licence Cost?

You’ll be charged a fee that’s based on the rateable value of the property. Application fees range from £100 to £1,905, depending on the fee band of your venue. If your premises doesn’t have a rateable value it will fall into the lowest fee band.
