Resolving a Consumer Dispute
Whenever goods or services are purchased you will have agreed to the sellers terms. A business is also legally bound to ensure that the products that they sell are fit for purpose.
Written contracts are always better as verbal contracts can be misunderstood. If anything goes wrong, then at least a written contract will provide insight as to what should have been provided.
You have statutory right regardless. If you feel as though a product does not meet the required expectations, you may be able to make a claim.
So what are your rights as a consumer?
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, suppliers are required to sell good that are of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If not, you have a number of options as follows:-
- Return the items within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.
- If the product cannot be repaired/replaced within six months you can get a refund.
- If the product does not last as long as expected you can get a repair/replacement or your money back for up to 6 years. This also applies to digital content such as music, games, apps and software.
- In some cases, a supplier will fix or replace a faulty product.
If the supplier is not willing to help you then you will need to take legal advice. Telephone us on: 02477 981545.
